What we built, and why
Most payroll software is priced and shaped for a company with an HR department. A freelancer, landlord-tenant payroll, or a two-person shop usually just needs a legible record of one pay period. So this tool is deliberately small: fill in the form, watch the stub render live in your browser, pay $4.99 for that one document, and download a watermark-free PDF. Nothing to sign up for, nothing recurring.
Pay as you go — subscriptions later
Today the model is single-payment: one document, one charge. We are keeping it that way because it fits how people actually use pay stubs. If recurring or bundled plans ever make sense, we would add them as an option alongside pay-per-document — never replace it, and never require a subscription to get the stub you already paid for.
The honest limitations
A document from Paystubs is an internal accounting record you author. It is not a W-2 or 1099, it is not a government form, and it does not run payroll or calculate your taxes.
